Climb every height to meet the rising morn; Above the waving tops, high mountains rise, In distant glory, and assault the skies. Enchanting valley, in its centre stands, a lonely chapel built by pious hands.
Under the Hood
So, this time I’ve gone on a completely different venture to my norm! This beautiful little chapel is practically in the middle of nowhere. I have no idea if it is still in use and visited on a regular basis; however, as it looks in good condition from the outside, I imagine it is still used.
The image to the right is the photograph Straight Out of Camera (SOC). A bright day the exposure was set to -.07 so the original image is somewhat dark and flat; BUT the camera was able to capture more data to be brought out in the digital dark room.
My aim was to create an image that imitated an old photo. So the first thing to do was to adjust the tones, then the colour, which produced the image to work on (left one below). After that, it was converted to black and white and tones and contrasts were worked on again. Once the black & white version was correct, I then changed it to a matt version and added grain, and finally a sepia tone to imitate old film cameras. I finished off by adding a warm hue to the image.
